make something tasty

FAQ

Below is a list of questions we anticipate people may have. If you have a question that is not listed below let us know and we will do our best to get back to you with an answer.

Can you give me suggestions for substitutions?
We can certainly try, but there may be times in which we do not know of a substitution for a specific ingredient. Remember, when making a substitution you are basically creating a new recipe so it would be hard for us to know how it will turn out.
Why are your serving sizes a range?
A serving size to one person may not be the same for another. We will never tell you how much you should or shouldn’t eat, this is completely up to you. The serving size can also vary depending on what else you are having. The range we have listed is our best guess in order to give you a general idea.
One of your recipes looks very similar to one on another site, did you steal it?
We do our best to list where we originally found a recipe in order to give credit where credit is due. We like to experiment so most of the time we have made adjustments, sometimes a lot and sometimes only very minor. We will never pass a recipe off as our own if we did not create it ourselves.
Can I share your recipes with others?
Yes, please do! We have added a few share buttons to make it easier, but feel free to share however you feel best. If you decide to re-write on your own site we would appreciate a link back.
Why do you not include more stories about you?
This is a recipe site and we want it to be just that. While most sites do include some kind of story with a recipe we are going back to basics and keeping it simple.
Can you tell me what wine to pair with which food?
We know that pairing the correct wine with your food makes a world of difference. Unfortunately, we are not that well versed to give the perfect pairing recommendation. When we select a wine to have with a meal it is based off our best educated guess, sometimes this is what we have on hand other times we will go to the store specifically to buy a wine for dinner.
Why are there no advertisements?
One of the things we hate most about recipe sites are the advertisements. Some sites have so many that it actually bogs down the computer and takes a long time for the page to load and/or hides part of the page itself. This is not meant to be a site for us to make money so there is no need for us to put ads on the site.
You say you do not have advertisements on your site, but you have an ingredient listed by brand name, is this not an advertisement?
Technically yes, you could call this an advertisement, however we are not being paid or receiving any compensation. We typically will not list brand names, however, if we do it is because we feel that it works best for the recipe. Cocktails are a great example as the brand of alcohol can make a big difference in taste.
Can I advertise on your site, I promise it will be simple and not cause issues?
No, we don’t care how simple or small it is, we are not putting ads on this site.
Why do you not post new recipes more often?
We created this site as a fun side project. We try to post as we have time but will not be able to post on a set schedule. Sometimes we may post several recipes all at once, other times it may be a few weeks between postings.
