Salsa

Salsa

This is a super simple salsa recipe. We found this on the Midwest Foodie Blog and only made a few adjustments to the spice level and how the instructions were written. Works well with just tortilla chips or as part of a meal.

Ingredients

  • 30 oz Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes
  • ½ Red Onion
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Jalapeño
  • 1 c Cilantro Leaves
  • 2 Limes
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • ¼ tsp Cayenne
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  • Roughly chop the red onion.
  • Cut the jalapeño in half, remove the seeds and the spine from inside the pepper.
  • Squeeze limes, keep juice and discard rest.
  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until pureed.
  • Adjust the spices as needed.

Notes

  • This will make a mild salsa, if you are wanting more heat you can leave in part of the jalapeño spine and seeds.
  • It is important to not under spice, if you are worried about adding too much spice add a little at a time, you can always add more and blend for a few more seconds.
