This is a quick and simple chocolate buttercream frosting. It is extremely versatile and can be used on cakes, cupcakes, or any type of dessert.
Chocolate Buttercream
Ingredients
- 1 c Butter softened
- Salt
- 3 c Powdered Sugar
- ½ c Cocoa Powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- ¼ c Heavy Whipping Cream
Instructions
- Add the butter and a pinch of salt to the bowl of a stand mixer and beat until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar about 1/2 cup at a time until mixed on low until combined.
- Add cocoa powder and mix on low to combine.
- Add the vanilla extract and heavy cream.
- Continue mixing until the frosting is light and fluffy.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of powdered sugar based on how sweet you want the frosting.
- If the frosting is too think add more cream, if it is too thin add more powdered sugar.
- This should be enough to frost a two layer cake or 4 dozen cup cakes.
